In May this year, the European Plastics Converters' Association (EuPC) had launched an extensive survey on the use of recycled plastics. Now the results have been presented. Around 500 participants from 28 countries took part. According to the survey, the most important hurdle to the use of recycled material in new applications is the quality of the available recycled material. Around 60 per cent of the survey participants stated that it was difficult to very difficult to find material of suitable quality.
Also interesting: only 27 per cent of European plastics processors said that their customers are sufficiently informed about the advantages and benefits of recycled material. In addition, almost 60 per cent of the companies surveyed stressed that the current legal framework would not be suitable for using more recycled material in new products in the future.
All survey results can be found in the report, which can be downloaded from the Polymer Comply Europe (PCE) website after registration.
