In the March issue of the Swiss trade magazine „Packaging industry“ a two-page article entitled „Circular innovations: From blister to recyclable material“ has been published. In the article, Dr Alexander Kronimus and Andreas Arnold shed light on the current progress of the recycling programme implemented in Germany and led by us. VinylPlus® PharmPack project.
By the editorial deadline, six (now eight) hospital pharmacies had been acquired as project partners and collection points for the reliable mechanical recycling of used PVC aluminium blister packs. A central cornerstone of the project is also the investigation of solvent-based recycling, which enables clean separation of the PVC-aluminium composite. This has now been achieved on a technical scale. The high-quality PVC recyclate obtained in this way could be processed to produce blister films with a 30 per cent rPVC content.
The publication in „Verpackungsindustrie“ was initiated by the Nova Institute. The article, written together with Dr Lars Krause, refers, among other things, to the Advanced Recycling Conference taking place in Cologne on 17 and 18 November 2026. VinylPlus Germany is a cooperation partner of the event and is aiming for a panel on PVC recycling there. If you are interested in presenting there, please get in touch with us.
