The "Arbeitsgemeinschaft PVC und Umwelt e.V." (AGPU) is now called "VinylPlus Deutschland e.V.". With this change of name, the German PVC industry is sending a clear signal for its joint European commitment to sustainability. The network of currently more than 50 member companies and partners - in Germany alone - will be further strengthened and the dialogue with the public and commitment to the sustainability of PVC, which began more than 30 years ago, will be consistently continued.
"Sustainable, climate-friendly production, consumer protection at the highest level and the use of waste as a valuable resource in the circular economy are essential goals by which the industry in Germany and Europe is measured today and in the future," underlines Dr Oliver Mieden, Chairman of VinylPlus Germany. "In order to express the clear focus on these topics even more strongly and to bundle the joint activities under one sender, the member companies already decided on the renaming last summer."
As the voice of the PVC industry in Germany, the association represents the entire value chain. "VinylPlus Deutschland bundles the knowledge of many experts and promotes its exchange. It also engages in dialogue with decision-makers and opinion leaders, creates transparency and builds trust in the sustainable development of the industry and the material," emphasises Managing Director Thomas Hülsmann. "The previous extensive range of services for our members will remain unchanged," Hülsmann continues.
"AGPU has been closely associated with VinylPlus®, the European PVC industry's voluntary commitment to sustainable development, for many years, through participation in various VinylPlus committees and a number of technical and communication projects," said Dr Brigitte Dero, Managing Director of VinylPlus, welcoming the change of name to VinylPlus Germany. "With VinylPlus®, the European PVC industry has created a long-term sustainability framework for the entire PVC value chain, which we will continue to shape together with partner companies and associations."
VinylPlus Deutschland e.V. will be the official contact for the sustainability programme in Germany. In a few months' time, the last decade will be reviewed in Brussels and the successor programme will be presented with new ambitious goals until 2030.
