Best Practice for the Environment: Documentation published

In the summer, the "Best Practice for the Environment" campaign by AGPU, Rewindo and AgPR came to an end after two years. Its aim: to identify and accompany recycling projects in the demolition, dismantling and deconstruction sector, where, for example, old PVC windows or PVC floor coverings accumulate and are recycled via the recycling systems of AgPR and Rewindo. A 28 [...]

First recycling project for old windows in Bremen

The modernisation of the "Wohlers Eichen" housing estate in Bremen shows how disused plastic windows can be recycled in an environmentally friendly way during energy-related renovations. The housing company Vonovia SE is currently having the buildings near the free ports of the Hanseatic city with 256 flats renovated in four construction phases. Among other things, the façades are being given additional thermal insulation and new, energy-saving plastic windows. The approximately [...]

VinylPlus® aims to recycle 900,000 tonnes of PVC per year by 2025

VinylPlus, the European PVC industry's sustainability programme, has been a pioneer for the circular economy since its inception in 2000. From the beginning, the industry has supported the European Commission's call to further promote the recycling of plastics. It has also committed to recycle at least 900,000 tonnes of PVC per year by 2025, which is a [...]

Best practice for the environment: 700 windows replaced

The energetic refurbishment of the secondary school in Jessen (Elster) is considered an instructive example in environmental matters. The three-storey main building and a two-storey front building from 1978 will receive modern thermal insulation for the facades and intermediate ceilings to the roof by 2019 while the school remains in operation. Furthermore, new plastic windows with triple glazing now ensure an additional improvement in the [...]

In addition, the measure is intended to further intensify European cooperation and exchange. The Italian [...]

AGPU: 30 years for PVC

There was no way around the foundation of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft PVC und Umwelt e.V. (AGPU) 30 years ago. This has not changed to this day, even if the times when the material and products made of PVC were particularly criticised are now a thing of the past. Thanks to the long-standing commitment of AGPU member companies from the entire PVC value chain to [...]

Cologne flat owners become raw material suppliers for window production

Work on the residential complex Alte Apotheke/corner of Schmittgasse in the Cologne district of Zündorf is now in its final stages. As part of an energy-efficient refurbishment of the building, which was constructed in the early 1980s, around 600 old PVC windows are being replaced with new, highly insulating plastic windows with modern GEALAN profiles from the window manufacturer Meeth in Wittlich. The special feature of this KfW-subsidised [...]

BVSE and AGPU: Positive development in recycling solutions for the building material PVC

On the occasion of the 21st Waste Plastics Day in Bad Neuenahr, the German Association for Secondary Raw Materials and Waste Disposal (Bundesverband Sekundärrohstoffe und Entsorgung e.V. - bvse) and the Working Group PVC and the Environment (Arbeitsgemeinschaft PVC und Umwelt e.V. - AGPU) drew a positive interim balance for the recycling of PVC as a building material.
