Industry associations call for more design for recycling

The recycling requirements of the new Packaging Act are a challenge for the industries involved that can only be overcome by working together. This was the conclusion reached by around 180 participants at the conference "Recycling and Recyclability of Packaging", which took place last week in Berlin and to which the associations Arbeitsgemeinschaft Verpackung + Umwelt e.V. (AGVU), Bundesverband Sekundärrohstoffe und Entsorgung (bvse) and Bundesverband der Deutschen Entsorgungswirtschaft (BDE) had invited participants. In order to meet the recycling quotas set by politicians, producers, disposers, sorters and recyclers must work together more closely to promote the recyclability of packaging in particular.

Another topic is the increased use of recycled raw materials in production. Up to now, politics has relied on the voluntary nature of the industry.
