The Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT has developed a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccpe.fraunhofer.de\/de\/aktuelles\/pressemitteilungen\/2025\/chemisches-recycling-in-europa-karte.html\">Interactive map of chemical recycling activities in Europe<\/a>\u00a0which covers installed systems, technologies, capacities and project status across the entire continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The European steam cracker locations and capacities are also listed in the logistical context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are currently 65 chemical recycling projects in Europe on the map. The planned capacity (excluding cancelled and operational projects) is 2,799 kt\/a. (per year). There are currently 18 plants in operation with a total capacity of 289 kt\/a (pyrolysis 262 kt\/a; solvolysis 19 kt\/a; solvent-based 8 kt\/a).
